Imran Khan and debutante Shruti Haasan have been childhood buddies. He has known her even before she was a teenager and the two have been friends since then. So when director Soham Shah told Imran that he wanted a new girl for his action thriller Luck, the actor thought of the obvious name.
“Soham was very sure he wanted a new girl for ‘Luck’…He also wanted someone who could do her own stunts. I just thought of Shruti, not knowing if she wanted to act or not. But then she came down to Mumbai and it worked,” Imran is quoted by IANS as saying.
Imran added that since Shruti knows him well, it was hard to enact a character in front of her.
“Shruti used to enter the sets with a serious look on her face. She is very serious about her work. But so am I. At times it was hard to act opposite her because she knows me inside out,” Imran revealed.
Imran and Shruti consider themselves “good friends” but when a reporter asked if he saw her as his sister, Imran said it was a disgusting thought because he romances Shruti in the film.

‘Luck’ has Imran doing many of his own stunts like swimming with sharks or running atop a burning train.
“I feel that if I am putting my name, face, energy, talent and time into something – it should turn out to be the best…At the end of the day, everyone should strive for perfection,” Imran is quoted as saying.
Also starring Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Denzongpa and Ravi Kissen, ‘Luck’ will hit the theatres on July 24, the coming Friday.
